Ballito Radio Controlled Club
Come fly with us

About Us

The BRCC was formed in November 2013 by Simon Povey, Fred Stark and Ken Mann, we are a SAMAA (South African Model Aircraft Association) registered club.  All our members have to be members of SAMAA before they are allowed to fly at our airfield.

Our airfield also has a "Letter of Agreement" with King Shaka International Airport, this agreement is reviewed and updated on an annual basis.  To view our latest agreement please click here.

We are a fun bunch of guys who love flying and are helpful and supportive to new members and potential pilots.

Our airfield, which was constructed in February and March 2017,  is based in Ballito on the beautiful north coast of Kwazulu Natal.

Safety is very important to us, so please take the time to read our Rules and Regulations, whether you are a pilot or visitor.  These are also displayed in the shadehouse at our airfield.

We also strongly recommend/encourage members to improve their flying skill by doing a SAMAA rated proficiency exam. There are five basic levels starting with Solo, Bronze, Silver, Gold and Instructors.  These all involve a theory Q&A section and a practical flying section.

General Flying Times

The airfield is busiest on a Sunday morning between 08h00 and 12h00.

We also try to fly on Saturday and Wednesday mornings starting around 08h00.

We now have restricted flying times for nitro and petrol powered planes.
Monday to Friday 08h00 - 17h00
Saturday 09h00 - 16h00
Sunday 09h00 - 15h00
Electric powered planes are still allowed anytime at this stage, if they are noisy don't fly them either.

The airfield is open to all members at any time.  It is recommended that you do not fly alone.

All the above is weather dependant.
