Model Planes, Large Scale Aerobatics, Helicopters, Jets, Drone Racing, Recreational Drones and Commercial Drones.
The BRCC was formed in November 2013 by Simon Povey, Fred Stark and Ken Mann.
We are a SACAA (South African Civil Aviation Authority) and a SAMAA (South African Model Aircraft Association) registered airfield/flying club.
All our members must be members of SAMAA before they are allowed to fly at our airfield.
Our airfield is within the controlled airspace of King Shaka International Airport therefore we have a "Letter of Procedure" with King Shaka International Airport, this agreement is reviewed and updated on an annual basis.
We are a fun bunch of guys who love flying and are helpful and supportive to new members and potential pilots.
Our airfield, which was constructed in February and March 2017, is based in Ballito on the beautiful North Coast of Kwazulu Natal.
Safety is very important to us, so please take the time to read our Rules and Regulations and our Manual of Procedure (MOP) whether you are a pilot or visitor.
We also strongly recommend/encourage members to improve their flying skill by doing a SAMAA rated proficiency exam. There are five basic levels starting with Solo, Bronze, Silver, Gold and Instructors. These all involve a theory Q&A section and a practical flying section.
You may also increase your skill levels by practicing our BRCC Sequences (Introduced March 2021) designed for any plane that can loop or roll. Diagrams, Wording and How to perform each manoeuvre. Discuss problem areas with your fellow pilots and learn to control your plane which we hope will lead to less time on the repairs table.
During the second half of 2022 after many meetings and even more emails and phone calls between BRCC, SACAA, King Shaka International Airport and our Consultants from "Drone Port Solutions" we became the first RC airfield within controlled airspace to be able to provide services for drone testing.
